Step 7 of 8: Statement of Purpose or Essay

Applicants are required to submit a Statement of Purpose. This may be accomplished by completing the Essay portion of the Texas Common Application online at www.applytexas.org.

In the statement of purpose, please describe why you want to pursue graduate studies in your chosen area. Please also take the opportunity to explain any circumstances that are not otherwise apparent on the application forms.

Please also submit a copy of your Statement of Purpose to the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering graduate office using one of the following addresses:

Note: Please include your full name, UIN, and specialty area (environmental engineering, structural engineering, etc.) on all items sent to the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering graduate office.
