All nominations should be sent to the address given below and must be received no later than November 3, 2008 . Each nomination package must include: a current resume of the individual being nominated, three letters of support that describe the leadership capabilities of the individual, documentation noting service and professional accomplishments of the individual, and a letter of nomination no longer than 150 words. Faxes and e-mails will not be considered. All nomination packages must be received by November 3, 2008. Nominations received after this date will not be considered for the nomination year.
Nominees must be graduates of the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering with degrees in either civil engineering or ocean engineering.
To be considered for selection, nominees must be graduates of the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M and have:
• attained prominence in and made significant contributions to the profession of civil engineering,
• made significant contributions toward improving the quality of the educational program within the department,
• demonstrated leadership in service to professional societies or the community, and
• exhibited the highest standards of integrity and character.
Nominations may be made by the following individuals:
• any graduate of the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering or the Ocean Engineering Program,
• any faculty or staff member in the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering, and/or
• any Texas A&M former student.
Texas A&M University’s Zachry Department of Civil Engineering established the Distinguished Graduates Award in 2000. This award is intended to recognize and honor our former students who have excelled in the civil engineering profession as well as highlight the significant contributions and achievements of these individuals. Through this award, the department hopes to promote a closer association between our current civil engineering students and outstanding civil engineering professionals.
